Viruses define the boundary of life and death and shape bacterial, plant and human communities by infecting and hijaking their individuals. Responsable for the worst bio-catastrophes in human history, they can also be re-fractored for treating disease and modifying organisms for enhanced functionalities. In this session, we will explore the different ways to tame viruses for biotechnological applications and reflect on the dual uses of designed viral vectors in a world of decentralised biology.
About Dimitrije
Dimitrije is a graduate student at the Translational Synthetic Biology lab at UPF university in Barcelona, where he develops CRISPR-based virals for therapeutic purposes, and explores new ways to build gene editing proteins with directed evolution.
- The talk will be in-person at BioClub Tokyo and also online at https://zoom.bioclub.tokyo
