Let's try DNA analysis - BioTechWorkshop part 1

Date

Sat., January 19 – Sun., January 20

In recent years, biotechnologies such as genetic testing has become increasing well-known in society.  In hopes that bio will become even more familiar to the general population, we are kicking off the "Let's try" series.  What can we actually do with biotechnology?  Our goal to is to get a sense of how biotechnology is used in three phases "seeing", "editing" and "creating" life.

For this session, we will start by conducting a simplified DNA test experiment, and we will focus on a portion of the DNA sequence of a cow and a pig and "see" the differences.  On the first day of the experiment, DNA will be extracted from the liver, and the corresponding DNA region will be replicated and cut into fragments of differing lengths.  On the following day, the fragments will be grouped together for "visualization".  This will be a two day session where you will learn about the basics of biotechnology while working hands on with equipment such as pipettes and get to understand better biotechnology.

Works with embedded Linux. DIY and electronic kit building, he has been an exhibitor at Maker Faire. He has been interested in BIO since a young age. He is particularly interested in the reasons why we age. After completing several course at edX, he participates at BioClub in order to conduct experiments at an actual lab. He is still studying, but looks forward to meeting you.
